A 55-year-old male has become Palm Beach County's tenth H1N1 swine flu victim, the Palm Beach County Health Department announced today.
The man, hospitalized with severe underlying conditions, died Nov. 2. Due to privacy reasons, the health department did not identify him.
"This pandemic continues to claim lives," said Dr. Alina Alonso, health department director. "Our sympathies go out to the family of this gentleman. I am also asking all to remain alert to the signs and symptons of this flu and seek medical attention if the fever, coughs and sneezes worsen."
To date, 81 persons have been hospitalized with the virus in Palm Beach County and 35 of those were admitted to intensive care units.
