DENGUE. Epidemiological Situation
From December 30, 2012 (SE 1) to June 1, 2013 (SE 22), has been reported to the surveillance system 142 962 fever cases, which were confirmed by laboratory and nexus 104 591 cases (73, 2%), 11,324 (10.8%) for laboratory and 93,267 (89.2%) by epidemiological, 3,906 were discarded (2.7%) and 34,465 suspects continue (24, 1%). The highest number of notifications was recorded in the Central department with 97 759 febrile patients (68.4% of the total reported in the country), followed by Assumption with 21,792 (15.3%) and the department of Alto Paran?, with 4789 notifications ( 3.7%).

In 2013, according to the results of the National Reference Laboratory, there is circulation of serotypes DEN-1, DEN 2 and DEN 4. Is recorded co-circulation of DEN 2 and DEN serotypes 4 in Amambay, Alto Paraguay, Caaguaz?, while Canindey? is co-circulation of DEN 1 and DEN serotypes 2 and Alto Parana is the co-circulation of three serotypes : DEN-1, DEN 2 and DEN 4, although the predominant serotype DEN-2.The remains 100% (18/18) of the country has viral isolation. (Map 1). the total laboratory-confirmed cases to EW 21 viremia were confirmed by 7% (802/11324).

Current Situation
In Figure 1, we can see that in EW 11 and 16 were recorded peaks of the epidemic, with an average of 9000 notifications, however the trend line shows how the epidemic is declining phase. The average between the peak decrease notifications regarding SE 16 SE 22 is 81, 3.

Considering the last three epidemiological weeks (SE 20, 21 and 22) all departments fever cases reported and analyzed the most recent week (EW 22) to press time there was a decrease by 77% Health Regions (14/18).

Dengue. Hospitalizations
Of the total reported as of EW 21, 13, 6% (19.473/139.056) required hospitalization. Most of them belong to the age group of 20-39 years, followed by the group of 5-14 years. Moreover, the age-adjusted rate is higher in the age group of 15 to19 years.

Mortality Surveillance
So far the year 2013 and up to press time, there were a total of 69 deaths from dengue, representing a case fatality rate of 0.04% (69/139.056). The average between the onset of symptoms until death patients was 5 days. 58% were male. The most affected age group is 20 to 39 years by 30% (21/69), followed by those age 60 and older by 30% (19/69). The average age of these patients is 44 years. (Range 1 month to 86 years). Of the 69 confirmed patients, 69, 5% (48/69) had comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, morbid obesity, heart disease and the following risk factors: pregnancy, children under 1 year and over 60 years. More than one comorbidity showed 37.5% (18/48) of all patients with comorbidities and / associated factors. The apartment where as many deaths occurred as patient origin is Central: 78, 2% (54/69), followed by Assumption: 11.5% (8/69).
