Health office reports ?clustering? of measles cases

THE Iloilo Provincial Health Office (Ipho) has recommended a massive measles vaccination to children from six to 11 months old in four barangays of Batad, Iloilo, after it noted a clustering of measles cases in the area.
The office also recommended the conduct of random throat swabbing to patients in order to identify the strain.
Earlier, Ipho warned of a clustering of measles cases in the municipality of Batad.

MANILA, Philippines ? A measles outbreak has been declared in two barangays in Batad town in Iloilo province after the number of people affected by the illness rose to five last week.

THE Department of Health has confirmed 15 new cases of measles in Metro Manila.
Center for Health Development?Metro Manila Regional Director Eduardo Janairo said the figure was based on the laboratory results of the test done on victims with suspected measles.
The areas with confirmed cases are Mandaluyong City, with two confirmed cases, Muntinlupa with one, Para?aque with three, Quezon City with five, and Taguig with two.
Majority of the victims are between one and five years old.
The DoH recently conducted a nationwide Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity.
It was learned that 81 percent of the metro population was unvaccinated, raising concerns about the disease.
