Pinellas County reports 9th swine flu death

ST. PETERSBURG - A ninth person in Pinellas County has died from swine flu, the Pinellas County Health Department said this morning.
The 51-year-old man had underlying health conditions, the department said.
As of Oct. 15, there have been 121 laboratory-confirmed swine flu fatalities in Florida. The flu was first detected in human beings in the United States in April 2009.
Meanwhile, the Pinellas health department has suspended swine flu immunizations because of limited supplies. Both the intranasal and injection vaccines will be available once new supplies arrive.
ST. PETERSBURG ? The number of swine flu deaths in Pinellas County has reached 10.
The Pinellas County Health Department learned this week that a 55-year-old man with underlying health problems died after carrying the swine flu virus, also known as H1N1.
As of Oct. 20, there have been 140 swine flu deaths reported in Florida in which the virus was confirmed in a laboratory. About 80 percent of the people who died had underlying health conditions.
Strapped with limited supplies, the Pinellas County Health Department has suspended swine flu immunizations in clinics until further notice. Vaccines will be restocked as they arrive from manufacturers, and immunizations will start up again.
