Swine flu ICU at Sassoon shut

The state government-run Sassoon General Hospital has shut down the 20-bed swine flu intensive care unit (ICU) set up in the hospital?s Infosys building. The ICU, established after the country?s first swine flu victim, Reeda Shaikh, succumbed to the infection on August 3, 2009, was the first one to be set up in the state.
Sources at the hospital said the decision to convert the swine flu ICU into a medical ICU was taken and implemented four months ago.
