9 ducks found dead at Chamkaur Sahib

Nine ducks were found dead under mysterious circumstances in a village pond near Chamkaur Sahib last evening.
Animal husbandry officials have sent their swab samples to the Regional Diseases Diagnostic Laboratory in Jalandhar in view of the death of geese due to bird flu in Chandigarh recently. Six of the dead birds were spot-billed ducks and the remaining were little grebe ducks.

The death of ducks at a water pond at Bhurare village near Chamkaur Sahib created a scare of bird flu in the area.

A migrant labourer noticed the dead birds, including spot-billed ducks and three little grebes at the village pond on Thursday evening. Later, the local administration was also informed.
The animal husbandry department officials visited the area and took the dead birds into their possession .The birds were then sent for test to regional diseases diagnostic laboratory, Jalandhar, in ice pack to ascertain the cause of death.
