doha ? Qatar yesterday conducted an illusive exercise to test the preparedness and ensure that all measures are in place to prevent the outbreak of bird flu. The exercise involved National Health Authority (NHA), Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture (MMAA) and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) was conducted in Al Douseri Reserve.
According to statement released by NHA, the exercise aimed at assessing the performance of all authorities involved in case of the epidemic outburst here. Speaking after the exercise, Mohamed bin Hamad Al Thani, from NHA, said that there were small mistakes that took place while the exercise was on and would be avoided in the future exercises.
He added that NHA is dealing with the matter seriously to ensure that Qatar is free of avian flu, adding that all potentials have been mobilized.
Nasser Al Qahtani, director of animal recourses department at MMAA, said that the ministry was ready in case of any developments, pointing out that this was their third participations in similar exercises.
Waleed Abu Jallalah from HMC, said that the exercise was done surprisingly so that the assessment can be properly conducted. Meanwhile, Qatar and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) yesterday signed on the national strategy for the prevention of Aids in Qatar. The agreement was signed by Sheikha Ghalia bint Mohamed bin Hamad Al Thani, chairperson of NHA and Khalid Aloush, representative of UNDP. :tiphat:
