Triệu chứng của đàn vịt trước khi chết là quay đầu, không theo đàn, nằm lệch rồi chết rất nhanh.
Ngay sau khi dịch bệnh xuất hiện, UBND xã Tịnh Sơn đã tiến hành các biện pháp quyết liệt là khoanh vùng, khống chế dịch bệnh và tiêu hủy toàn bộ đàn vịt này.
Ông Sơn cho biết thêm, đàn vịt của ông Lâm Hà là đàn vịt thứ 4 ở xã Tịnh Sơn xuất hiện tình trạng chết hàng loạt trong vòng 10 ngày qua.

Trước đó, đã có khoảng 7.000 con vịt của 3 hộ ở thôn Tây và thôn Đông bị nhiễm vi rút cúm gia cầm H5N1 và đã được tiêu hủy.
