It appears that WHO has these two probable cases from KSA on Graph.... Figure 2 Month of onset of 176 confirmed and probable MERS-CoV cases by country of most likely exposure

Great analysis!

I am going to add to the FT case list page under the suspected category.

As to the 2 "Spain" cases which are probably Saudi cases, we have one on our official case list. This is because the government of Spain officially announced this case. As of yesterday the WHO has not confirmed this case. As to the 2nd case discovered in Spain, today I am going to also add this person to our official list pending WHO confirmation.

While test results can be the definitive measure, many diseases around the world are diagnosed based on clinical symptoms and patient history. I believe this to be the situation with the Saudi cases diagnosed in Spain.

Hi Sharon.. just suggesting.. to make it easy, the 2nd probable spanish case would be chronologically on FluTrackers list as ~164 and push the 3 confirmed case to Abu Dhabi , United Arab Emirates #165, 166, 167.

Many people are using our case list numbering system so once we allocate a number for a case we can not change it without causing a lot of confusion.

I use below, the FluTracker's (FT) case numbering scheme because frankly, they produce the only numbering schemes for tracking cases of new or returning infectious disease that are systematic, reliable and worthy of our trust.

It should form the basis for a worldwide numbering system for infectious disease outbreaks because it is also freely and publicly available such that any potential manuscript author can easily check it before submitting a research paper and then we could all know which case is being discussed. And by "we" I mean fellow researchers, not just interested parties.

I agree, makes total sense in maitaining allocated case #'s for all parties.
