This year's first death due to swine flu in Jodhpur

Jodhpur, Feb 14 (PTI) The city saw its first swine flu casualty for the year when a person, who was admitted in a hospital ten days ago died here this afternoon.

The patient, who was on a ventilator since he tested positive, breathed his last today, hospital sources said.

According to Arvind Mathur, Head of the Department Medicine said R K Soni, a resident of Ratanada locality, was admitted to the hospital on February 4, under critical conditions, with symptoms of Pneumonia.

A pregnant woman has died due to swine flu here, hospital sources said today.

The woman identified as Imarti Devi (22) died at the PBM hospital here yesterday. She was tested positive of the virus," Dr V B Singh, nodel officer (swine flu)- PBM hospital said.

11 people out of 12 swine-flu suspected patients have been tested negative this year, he added.

Woman succumbs to swine flu in Jodhpur

JODHPUR: With the death of a woman on Thursday in the swine flu isolation ward at MDM Hospital, the dreaded virus has once again made its presence felt in Jodhpur. She was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday and was tested positive on Wednesday. Two deaths have occurred so far this year in Jodhpur.

Samdu Devi (22) was brought to MDM Hospital from Sojat City on Tuesday under serious condition. She was pregnant and was immediately put on ventilator. Her swab was sent for the test on the same day and the report, which was obtained on Wednesday, she was tested positive. Samdu finally breathed her last on Thursday morning.

Pregnant woman dies of swine flu in Jodhpur
Jodhpur, May 19 : A pregnant woman died of Swine Flu in an isolation ward in MDM Hospital here yesterday even as three more women--two of whom are pregnant--are being treated for the epidemic in the ward.

The deceased woman identified as Maya of Banad near here was referred to the hospital on May 11 with severe pneumonia and later was shifted to Isolation ward following confirmation of H1N1 virus.

This is second casualty due to swine flu in the town during the current year.

Earlier, a woman from Ratanada had succumbed of the disease in January.

Swine flu claims woman in Kota


JAIPUR: The first swine flu death of this year's monsoon was reported in Kota on Saturday. Following it, the medical and health department sounded an alert in the Jhalawar district from where the woman hailed.

Officials of the department have started screening people with swine flu symptoms in the district. So far, 1,000 houses have been surveyed.

"The number of swine flu deaths have gone up to 11 since April. So far, 18 people have tested positive for the disease over the past three months," an official said.

The 28-year-old woman, a resident of Khanpur village in Jhalawar district, died of swine flu in Kota while undergoing medical treatment.

The woman was suffering from swine flu symptoms of cough and cold for the past 15 days but failed to get timely treatment. The victim, Seema Pareta, was rushed to the Sudha hospital in Kota on June 25 after her condition started deteriorating.

JAIPUR: Prior to being brought to Sudha Hospital, the flu victim, Seema Pareta, had undergone treatment at a local hospital in Jhalawar but her condition did not improve.

On June 27, the doctors put her on ventilator, and took her swab samples for swine flu test.

The reports, which arrived after three days, revealed that Seema was suffering from the disease.

Following her death, the doctors administered tamiflu tablets to those who had come in contact with her over the past few days.

G S Sisodiya, chief medical and health officer of Kota said, "As a preventive measure, we have administered tamiflu tablets to those who had come into contact with her in the past few days so as to stop the disease from spreading."

Health director B R Meena said, "We will soon conduct an elaborate survey to find out if there are any more cases of swine flu in the district."

One more succumbs to swine flu in stat

JAIPUR: Another swine flu death was reported in the state on Sunday. An 18-year-old man, resident of Karauli district, died of the disease. A quack in Karauli district was responsible for his slowly bleeding to death.

This is the second consecutive swine flu death in the past two days. Earlier, a pregnant woman, a resident of Jhalawar, had succumbed to the disease.

Manoj Kumar, a labourer in Delhi, had returned to his village Mared in Karauli in May with symptoms of swine flu. He was admitted to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur nearly one-and-a-half months after contracting the disease. "This is because he was treated by a quack in his village for a month. After that he went to a hospital in Mandawar when he vomited blood," a medical and health department official and a doctor in Karauli said.

Doctors in Mandawar referred him to SMS in Jaipur, where he breathed his last. "He was brought to the hospital quite late when his condition had seriously deteriorated. He tested positive for swine flu and died under treatment," L C Sharma, SMS hospital superintendent, said.

After health officials in Karauli came to know about the swine flu death, they conducted a survey of the village and nearby areas. Karauli chief medical and health official B K Agarwal said, "He (Kumar) might have carried swine flu virus from Delhi. Here, in our district we made a survey after Kumar tested positive. We have not found any other person with swine flu symptoms. But as a precaution, we have administered Tamiflu to relatives of Kumar and other persons who were in direct contact with him."

In Jhalawar district, where a swine flu death was reported a couple of days ago, the medical and health department administered Tamiflu to 54 people, who had symptoms like swine flu just as a preventive measure. Sources said after the swine flu death, the department surveyed Khanpur village and nearby areas.

In Jaipur also, the department collected swab sample of a patient with swine flu-like symptoms. Thankfully, he tested negative.

Health department officials said where the cases of swine flu deaths are reported, we have started survey of the area as a precautionary measure.
