Rajasthan man in Ahmedabad hospital with swine flu

A 55-year-old man from Rajasthan is being treated for swine flu at a private hospital in the city, where he was diagnosed for H1N1 virus on Monday evening.

Suresh Chandra Jain was admitted to a hospital in Rajasthan after developing flu-like symptoms five days ago, said Dr Dinkar Raval, Gujarat?s nodal officer for H1N1 and deputy director in the Health and Family Welfare department. When there was no improvement, Jain was brought and admitted to Sterling hospital here on Monday morning. H1N1 was confirmed by evening, said Dr Raval, adding Jain was said to be stable.

Jain is the third person from Rajasthan to have come to Ahmedabad seeking treatment for swine flu.

One of the two previous patients was admitted to the same private hospital as Jain. The other was treated at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. There have been seven confirmed cases of H1N1 in Gujarat this year, including two fatalities.

Swine flu patient dies

An 18-year-old person died of swine flu in a private hospital in Jaipur on Saturday morning. The patient was a resident of Nawalgarh area of Jhunjhunu district. He was brought to the hospital in serious condition on Friday but died a day after while undergoing treatment. In the last one week, the SMS hospital has admitted three swine flu patients. This is the second swine flu death this year in the state. A 48-year-old had died of swine flu in government hospital Kota recently.

Woman tests positive for swine flu

JAIPUR: A 23-year-old woman, who delivered a baby two days ago, tested positive for swine flu in Kota on Sunday. The baby has been admitted to the ICU in a private hospital with similar kind of symptoms of swine flu. The doctors have sent the swab sample to lab for testing for H1N1 influenza.

A medical, health and family welfare department official said, "The patient is not a resident of Kota but she had come to her mother's house. The patient resides in Jhalawar."

On September 6, a 48-year-old person died of swine flu in the government hospital of Kota. This is the second case of swine flu in Kota district. So far in the state swine flu patients have been reported from Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota. Three patients have died of the disease in September - one each in Kota, Jaipur and Jodhpur.

In Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh hospital, three patients with swine flu were admitted in the last 10 days.

Three more positive cases of swine flu detected in Jaipur

Jaipur: Swine flu has been spreading day by day in the city with three more new H1N1 positive cases registered. Three swine flu positive patients from Churu and Alwar admitted in SMS hospital on Saturday. With this the total number of swine flu positive patients in Rajasthan reached 80 and two has lost their lives.

According to an information from Medical and health department, Shravan ans Kiran Kanwar from Churu and Ujita from Alwar have been admitted to SMS hospital. Later Kiran Kanwar got discharged after improvement in health.

Dengue malaria cases increased

Not only swine flu, cases of dengue and malaria have been also increased. This year the statistics has crossed 17000 including 250 cases of dreadful PF malaria.

Sawai Man Singh hospital has recorded a 25% increase in patients' registration in a fortnight. Around 8-10 deaths have been reported in Jaipur due to viral pneumonia, said sources. In Dausa, six persons have died of an unknown fever. Fearing a swine flu outbreak, the department has started distributing tamiflu tablets in affected areas.
