Jaipur, Dec 13 (PTI) The Rajasthan Government has implemented provisions of an Act to prevent spread of H1N1 virus and ensure effective treatment.

'The Rajasthan Epidemic Disease Act-1957' empowers district collectors to take immediate measures in the event of epidemics.

"The Act would empower collectors to take special measures and prescribe regulations as to dangerous epidemic diseases," Medical and Health Minister I Ahmed "durru miyan" told PTI here today.

If any one is found flouting hygiene norms leading to spread of swine flu, collectors can impose penalty on any individual or institution, the minister said.

All public places including bus stands, railway stations, cinema halls and schools would fall under this Act.

Meanwhile, H1N1 today claimed another life while 48 people tested positive for the virus. The deceased is identified as Santosh in Jaipur, a medical official said.

So far, 96 people have died of this disease in the state.

79 tested H1N1 positive in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Dec 16 (PTI) As many as 79 people were tested positive for H1N1 virus in parts of Rajasthan taking the total number of swine flu cases to over 2500 in the state.

Of these, 37 positive cases were detected in Jaipur followed by Jodhpur 20, Bikaner seven, Ajmer and Udaipur three each, Jhunjhunu and Kota two each. Five other cases include one from Chittorgarh, Alwar, Karauli, Nagaur and Bharatpur, a medical official said.

However, there was no flu related death in the state today, he said.

The deadly disease has claimed 104 lives out of 2500 positive cases in Rajasthan so far, the official said.

Meanwhile, the state medical and health department have started door-to-door search for H1N1 patients in the state capital and in eight divisional headquarters including Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Bikaner, Bharatpur, and Alwar.

Jaipur, Dec 17 (PTI) Swine Flu today claimed the life of a woman hailing from Karauli at Sawai Man Singh Hospital here, while 66 patients were diagnosed H1N1 positive in Rajasthan, a state medical official said.

The deceased was identified as 25-years-old Seema.

Stating the decline in percentage of H1N1 positive cases, Dr O P Gupta, the director Medical and Health said that on November 5, the rate of positive cases was 70 per cent, which gradually declined to 51 per cent on November 11, and to 22 per cent today.

Awareness among people, precautionary measures, and efficient drug delivery system have proved fruitful for the state, he claimed.

Since June last, of the 2,566 people diagnosed positive in the state, 105 have died due to the dreaded viral disease so far, Gupta added.

JAIPUR: Swine flu claimed one more life in Barmer on Saturday. Fifty-two fresh cases have been reported from different parts of the state.

With this, the total number of deaths in the state has reached 110 and positive cases stood at 2676. Though maximum positive cases (1539) were reported in Jaipur, the mortality rate is high in Jodhpur, Nagaur, Barmer and Jaisalmer. This has become a major concern for the health officials.

Despite the massive screening drives, the disease continues to claim more lives in the state. The health officials insist that more efforts are required to spread awareness in the remote areas.

?The severity of the disease is reported in Jodhpur and nearby areas. This is attributed to remote location of villages and ignorance among the people towards testing and care during influenza,? says a senior health official.

The health department is expected to strengthen its screening process and those even with slightest flu symptoms will now be put on preventive medication.

JAIPUR: Despite massive efforts from the state government, swine flu death toll further increased as three more H1N1 patients died on Sunday. Beside this, 47 new cases were also confirmed across the state during the day. Where Jodhpur registered one more death during the day, two other deaths were recorded in Bhilwara and Udaipur districts. The total swine flu toll in Jodhpur has reached 31 while the health department till now has confirmed death of 116 swine flu patients across the state.
Following the recent deaths the mortality rate of the disease which had once dipped below 3% before December is now touching 4.2% among the 2,723 H1N1 cases confirmed in the state. Government officials have visited areas of high prevalence and mortality, however, no substantial findings have been made for effective control over the situation.

Along with Jodhpur some other districts too have reported high mortality figures. Meanwhile, the state government has now been focusing on further increase in the testing facilities, to provide early diagnosis and treatment for the patients.

The government had earlier cancelled the gazetted leaves from December 25 to December 28 instructing all the officials to remain on duty for the work of documentation.

Over the next three days, the officials will assimilate the information received during various door-to-door surveys, screening drives, testing results, the screening data from those to have come in direct contact with the positive patients and treatment procedures.

High mortality figures of H1N1 patients in some particular areas has raised concerns of the health department and through the evaluation exercise the department is expecting to determine the spreading pattern of the disease and devise future strategy accordingly.

Rajasthan has so far recorded 2,918 confirmed cases of H1N1 among which 124 people have been reported to have died during treatment. There have been massive screening drives held in most affected areas and preventive treatment has been delivered to thousands of people with simple flu symptoms, however it has only been able to mild down the new cases being sighted each day.

4 die of swine flu in state in single day

JAIPUR: Swine flu claimed four more lives in the state on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 143. Among the dead were a 78-year-old man from Jaipur, a two-year-old boy, a woman from Jodhpur and another woman from Pali.

According to the health department, till date 3,016 people have tested positive for the disease in the state. Jodhpur district with 38 H1N1 deaths has reported the maximum number of casualties, followed by Jaipur with 21 deaths. Officials admit that the high mortality rates in districts of Nagaur, Ajmer, Barmer and Jaisalmer districts have also been a cause of concern.

Health officials maintained that the reason of high mortality remains late diagnosis of the disease, especially in the remote areas. The health department has now ordered to sensitise all private medical practitioners in the state regarding swine flu. ?The private clinics and hospitals will be provided information about categorisation of the swine flu suspects and will be instructed to refer all suspected H1N1 patients to the nearest screening centres,? a senior health official said.

18 new H1N1 cases in state

JAIPUR: The state recorded 18 new cases of swine flu on Saturday, including seven from Jodhpur, four from Udaipur and three from Jaipur districts.
Bikaner, Sikar, Kota and Baran also reported one case each. Howeve, there was no H1N1 casualty during the day.

The state has so far recorded 3,067 positive cases of the disease. However, as the incidence of the disease continues to remain low, the health officials claim that spread of the infection will be effectively controlled. The disease earlier registering a strong presence was tested in students of most of the schools in Jaipur. The high mortality of the disease being reported from certain areas of the state further lead to increased concerns. However, from the initial highs, the disease incidence has registered a drop.

As public awareness has also increased, the initial panic seems to have disappeared and the increase in level of personal hygiene has led to decrease in further communication of the disease. The doctors, meanwhile, have been safely prescribing home rest for most flu patients. Those with symptoms of respiratory disorders are, however, being treated on priority level.

JAIPUR. Eight more people were tested positive for swine flu while one person succumbed to the disease in the state on Saturday. According to health officials, four of those tested positive were from Jaipur while Udaipur, Baran, Sikar and Bhilwara districts confirmed one case each. The death occurred in Ajmer. However, the reports from Desert Medical Research Centre (DMRC) were not received till late Saturday evening.

So far, 3,155 swine flu cases have been recorded in the state, whereas the death toll is estimated to have reached 155. Despite low incidence of the disease, the mortality rate continues to remain high in the state. The districts of Nagaur, Jodhpur, Baran and Pali have recorded high swine flu mortality though the numbers of flu cases in these areas remain comparatively less. Health officials have initiated multiple rounds of screening in the affected areas. However, the exact cause for high mortality are yet to be ascertained.

JAIPUR: New swine flu cases were registered in Sri Ganganagar, Alwar and Kota while officially no deaths were reported on Friday.

However, one JMC employee is reported to have died due to swine flu. The swine flu incidence was registered to be at its lowest in the past few months as only three new cases were registered during the day.

The spread of the disease is now considered to have come to a standstill and the number of suspects at swine flu screening centres has also decreased. So far 3,198 cases of swine flu have been registered while more than 150 have died under treatment.
