PROVIDENCE, R.I. ? A case of meningococcal meningitis has been confirmed in a vaccinated Providence College student, the Rhode Island Department of Health reported Monday.

The student was taken to a Boston-area hospital and is improving, the health department said. Antibiotics have been provided to the student?s close contacts, and the student?s Boston-area contacts are being identified...

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) ? Providence College says it vaccinated more than 3,000 students Sunday as it deals with two cases of meningococcal meningitis.

The college confirmed a second student has meningitis among its student body of more than 3,800 undergraduates and about 700 graduate students.

The school reported that 3,060 students were immunized at a Sunday clinic...
