?This means that the birds have contacted with ill species or have been ill? with bird flu themselves, they stressed. Monitoring of water fowl began last week, and antibodies to bird flu have been found in the blood of wild ducks on the Korostylyovskoye water reservoir, on the Novoye and Presnoye lakes, they specified.
The sources said the situation in private households remains normal, but nevertheless owners of domestic poultry were asked to keep the birds inside.
Meanwhile, vaccination against the N5N1 strain of bird flu continues in the region. About one million domestic birds have been vaccinated. Domestic birds in thirty-seven districts of the region situated on migratory birds routes are vaccinated first.

Vaccination in the threatened zone continues despite the fact that uterine livestock of birds (about 1 mln. feathered) here more narrowly inculcated. Monitoring after animals at the poultry processing facilities and in the wild fauna will be also continued.

As already reported IA regnum, during the past year of antibody to the virus of the influenza of birds the blood of wild feathered were found in 90 tests. But this, fortunately it did not affect the satisfactory as a whole situation according to the epizootic situation in the edge.

Monitoring of water fowl began last week, and antibodies to bird flu have been found in the blood of wild ducks on the Korostylyovskoye water reservoir, on the Novoye and Presnoye lakes, they specified.

Domestic birds in thirty-seven districts of the region situated on migratory birds routes are vaccinated first.

The above comments on H5N1 antibodies in the initial wild bird collections for this season are not a surprise. H5N1 has been found in the area each season since the first reported outbreak in July 2005 in and around Chany Lake in Novosibirsk. Last season there was massive die-off in Tuva. Sequences from both outbreaks were Clade 2.2 (Qinghai strain) and seasonal re-emergence via transport and transmission of wild birds is expected, as indicated the by the above immunization schedule.

Sequences from each season become increasingly complex. This season, a larger number of poultry and human H5N1 sequences were generated by US NAMRU-3. The outbreaks in Egypt were followed by outbreaks in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, signaling the movement of Qinghai H5N1 back to southern Siberia and northern Mongolia.

Sequencing of H5N1 being transported back to Siberia this season would be of interest.

It would also be helpful to know how the prevalence of antibodies is distributed among the species sampled...

As noted earlier, a full data set was provided in the Mission report in 2005. These are all re-runs. The data were presented two years ago and the story remains the same (as do the questions, which have already been answered many times over).

Here is the Mission report, which gives the details on the 2 dozen species in Russia that were H5 positive in 2005 (as well as those that were negative).

The data were presented some time ago, and the results in Russia were repeated in 2006 and now they are being repeated in 2007.

It remains unclear why the same questioned are asked again and again. The story was clear then and is quite clear now, regardless of how many times the answered questioned are asked
