A case of measles in an unimmunized baby in Saskatchewan has prompted a public health advisory for the province.

Deputy Chief Medical Health Officer Denise Werker confirms that the baby is receiving treatment and recovering.

The baby?s family came from the Phillipines on a flight on January 2 with connections in Vancouver and Calgary. Anyone who was on the same flights as the family including Philippine Airlines PR116 Manila on January 2 and two flights on January 7 including West Jet 544 Vancouver to Calgary arriving at 10:24 am and West Jet 3145 Calgary to Regina arriving at 2:30 pm may have been exposed to the measles...

Measles exposure at Vancouver International Airport, risk deemed low

Health officials say there?s little risk to the public after an infant with measles went through the Vancouver International Airport earlier this month...

..This is the third time measles have shown up in the past month in Canada, via a flight arriving from the Philippines.

17 cases of measles were reported in B.C. last year, and officials say several of these were among travelers returning from Thailand, the Netherlands, and the Philippines. Health officials say some of the cases were among travelers who were just going through the airport...

Regina officials identify new dates and locations where people may have been exposed

There are more confirmed and suspected cases of measles in Saskatchewan, according the Regina Qu?Appelle Heath Region.

There are five confirmed cases in the province, four of them are in Regina.

There are between 10 and 12 suspected cases. All of those are in Regina...

...Officials have also identified some new dates and locations where people in Regina may have been exposed.

Here are the places and times health officials are worried about:

Superstore (Rochdale location - Jan. 17, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.)
Wal-Mart (Rochdale location - Jan. 17, 11:15 a.m.-1:45 p.m.)
Uplands Pizza (475 Broad St. N. - Jan. 17, 11:45 a.m.-3 p.m.)
Cooperators Centre in Evraz Place (1700 Elphinstone St. - Jan. 18, 1:30 p.m.-5:45 p.m.)
Soma Salon and Spa (2336 9th Avenue N - Jan. 20, 3:15 p.m.-6:30 p.m.)

The health region said anyone who has been to any of these locations should be aware of the symptoms, and call a doctor if you have them...

The measles watch continues with the Regina-QuAppelle Health Region now cautioning Reginans about two more times and places they could have been exposed to measles...

...The RQHR has been alerting the general public about places the people with confirmed infections travelled while potentially infectious. Because the virus is air-borne that means other people could potentially have contracted it. The newest locations include the Hotel Saskatchewan on Jan. 19 between 9:30 and 1:30 p.m. and the Chapters book store and the attached Starbucks on Jan. 13 and Jan. 22 as well...

The number of confirmed cases of measles in Saskatchewan is again rising.

There are now 10 cases, up from six last week. All of them are in southern Saskatchewan including nine in Regina...

...At this time there are another 10 to 12 suspected cases of measles. In particular cases, Hennink said they?ll recommend an individual suspected of having the disease isolate themselves for about 21 days.

The RQHR is also alerting the public of more public locations where Reginans could have been infected.

Five new locations have been added to a list of places where people may have come in contact with the virus:

Pur Indulgence Salon and Spa (Feb. 1 9:30-4 p.m)
Sobey?s on Rochdale Blvd. (Feb. 2 between 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.)
Fresh Coffee Shop on Hamilton St. (Feb. 3 between 9:45 and 12:15 p.m.)
Cornwall Shopping Mall?The Bay and Cleo stores only (Feb. 3 between 11:30 and 3 p.m.
Regina General Hospital?front entrance only (Feb. 4 between 8:30 and 11 a.m.)

This is in addition to 14 previous locations since the virus arrived in Regina at the beginning of the year.

There have recently been confirmed cases of measles in Saskatchewan. In the process of investigating a measles case, the Regina Qu?Appelle Health Region has informed Sunrise Health Region that customers and employees who were at Home Hardware Building Centre, 145 Broadway Street East, Yorkton on Monday, January 20th between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. may have been exposed to the measles virus and may become ill...
... note that individuals who have were at the Home Hardware on January 20th between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. who have not yet shown symptoms of measles at this time (23 days after potential exposure) are not likely to have contracted the virus...

...The case, yet to be confirmed by lab test, involves a patient who recently travelled out of the country.

There have been 11 confirmed cases of measles this year, 10 of them from the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region and one from outside the region.

It's advising people who visited two stores Feb. 24 to be aware.

The stores include Dollarama at the Northgate Mall (between 9:15 a.m. CST and 11:45 a.m.) and the Wal-Mart photocentre on Rochdale Boulevard (between 9:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.)

REGINA ? It?s been more than a month since any measles have been reported in the Regina Qu?Appelle Health Region (RQHR), so the outbreak is officially over.

But public health officials are remaining vigilant.

Eleven cases of measles have been confirmed in Saskatchewan ? 10 in Regina ? since the beginning of January, said Dr. Maurice Hennink, deputy medical health officer with the RQHR, on Thursday...

Another case of measles has popped up in the Lloydminster area.

The Prairie North Health Region and the Ministry of Health say a child under five years old, who was not vaccinated, was diagnosed with the measles virus on Friday.

The Health Region says anyone who visited Boston Pizza, Mark's Work Warehouse, Mcdonald's on the south side of town, or Walmart in Lloydminster on Monday April 21 could have been exposed to the virus...
