REGINA -- The Government of Saskatchewan reported 27 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, 52 more recoveries and no additional deaths.

The new cases are in the Far Northwest (seven), Northwest (one), Saskatoon (eight); Regina (nine) and Southeast (one) zones. One new case is pending residence information.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 33. There are 396 active cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan as of Sunday...

REGINA -- Nearly 50 per cent of Saskatchewan residents age 12 and older have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to data from the province.

The government said Monday 48 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 71 per cent have their first dose.

Health-care workers have given 8,814 more shots, which includes 7,871 second doses and 934 first doses. As on Monday, 731,115 people have their initial shot and 494,071 people are fully-vaccinated, according to the government’s COVD-19 dashboard.

The province reported 20 new COVID-19 cases Monday, along with 56 recoveries.

The new cases are in the Far Northwest (one); Far Northeast (three); North Central (one); Northeast (three); Saskatoon (one); and Regina (nine) zones. Two cases are pending residence information.

Saskatchewan's daily COVID-19 numbers continue to drop on Tuesday, as the province reported 14 new cases, compared to 20 on Monday.

That brings the province's total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 48,992.

The province reported the first new death from the illness since June 29 on Tuesday, bringing the death toll so far to 569.

The person who died was in the 30 to 39 age group and lived in the northwest area of the province.

Overall, 21 people aged 20 to 39 have died in Saskatchewan due to the pandemic...

COVID-19 claims another life in Saskatchewan, 53 new cases reported

The Saskatchewan government announced one more death from COVID-19 on Wednesday and 53 new cases, which brings the total number of provincial infections to 49,039 cases, of which 12,231 are variants of concern.

The death was reported in the northwest zone in the 40 to 49 age group.

As for new COVID-19 cases, five are in the far northwest, three are in the far northeast, one is in the northwest, five are in the north-central, six are in Saskatoon, three are in the central-west, 13 are in Regina and 10 are in the southwest.

There have been 48,150 recoveries from the virus and 319 cases are considered active.

The province says 64 people remain in hospital, with 54 people receiving inpatient care and 10 people in intensive care. Three people in the ICU are in Regina and four are in Saskatoon.

Saskatchewan reported 113 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the largest single-day increase in cases since the beginning of June.

The province said the rise in cases is "largely attributable" to the previously reported outbreak at the Hatchet Lake Denesuline First Nation, which is located about 850 kilometres north of Saskatoon near Wollaston Lake.

The First Nation at Hatchet Lake uses a rapid testing machine that supports rapid case contact identification.

Positive cases then have to be manually entered into the provincial system, which has been delayed as provincial staff worked to deal with the immediate outbreak.

More provincial staff have been deployed to enter the COVID-19 testing results into the provincial system, the province said in a new release on Thursday.

The Saskatchewan Health Agency is assisting the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Agency, which has jurisdiction at Hatchet Lake.

Voluntary mass testing is ongoing and vaccinations are being offered door-to-door at the First Nation. ..

Another person dies from COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, 36 new cases reported

The Saskatchewan government announced one more death from COVID-19 on Friday and 36 new cases, bringing the total number of provincial infections to 49,198 cases, of which 7,667 are variants of concern.

The death was reported in the northwest zone in the 80-plus age group.

As for new COVID-19 cases, four are in the far northwest, four are in the far northeast, three are in the northwest, five are in the north-central, two are in the northeast, four are in Saskatoon, five are in Regina, four are in the southwest and four are in the southeast.

There were 19 news cases on Sunday as well. Apart from a one-day spike of 114 cases last Thursday, new cases have been in the double digits since June 13.

Saskatchewan‘s COVID-19 active case count and hospitalizations have gone up after the provincial government announced 53 new cases and 19 recoveries on Wednesday.

No new deaths have been recorded.

The far northwest reported the largest share of Wednesday’s new cases with 24. Other zones with new cases include two in the far north central, two in the far northeast, nine in the northwest, one in the north central zone, five in Saskatoon, four in Regina, one in the southwest and one in south central.

Active cases now stand at 276 with the seven-day daily average at 30.

Saskatchewan switching to weekly COVID-19 updates; active cases now over 400

The Saskatchewan government has announced that provincial COVID-19 updates will now be released on a weekly basis rather than daily starting next week.

In a release on Thursday afternoon, the government said the weekly news releases will summarize vaccination and case information.

The province’s COVID-19 dashboard will continue to be updated seven days a week for now. The dashboard is where the public can view information such as vaccines delivered, new and active cases by zones, hospitalizations and testing numbers.

The switch in update announcements will start Aug. 3...
