Saskatchewan sets another daily record for COVID-19 cases

For the second straight day, a new daily record for cases in the province was set.

The province reported 506 new cases on Tuesday, the fourth day in the past five that it has reported over 400 new cases.

Officials said 88.5 per cent of the new cases are in people not fully vaccinated and just under one-third of the new cases are in people under the age of 19...

...The seven-day rolling average for new cases also hit a new high on Tuesday.

The province said the seven-day average was 406 — 33.7 new cases per 100,000 population.

Hospitalizations continued to climb, with officials reporting 225 people in hospital, 43 of whom are in intensive care.

Officials said of those patients in hospital, 75.6 per cent — 170 patients — were not fully vaccinated...

REGINA -- The Saskatchewan government confirmed 475 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, marking the fourth day in row the province has added more than 400 cases.

The new infections pushed active cases to 4,016 – a 287 per cent increase from 30 days ago. It’s the first time active cases have topped 4,000 since Jan. 19, 2021. The seven-day rolling average of new cases is 416.

Eighty-five per cent of the new cases are in residents who are not fully vaccinated. Of the 475 cases, 101 are in children under the age of 12, who are not eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty per cent of new cases – or 237 – are in people under the age of 30; 95 per cent – or 225 – of them are not fully vaccinated.

The province said two more people have died from COVID-19; one person was between the ages of 60 and 79 and the other person was above the age of 80. The deaths bring the provincial total to 629...

...According to the province, there are 224 COVID-19 patients in hospital across the province; 40 of those are in the ICU. The government said 169 of the 224 patients (75 per cent) are not fully vaccinated...

For the fifth time this week, Saskatchewan has reported more than 400 new COVID-19 cases.

On Thursday, health-care officials added 439 new cases.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is up to 438 or 36.4 per 100,000 population...

...One new death was also reported Thursday, with a total of 630 deaths related to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

There are now 4,064 active cases in Saskatchewan...

....There are 218 patients in hospital with COVID-19, including 48 receiving intensive care.

REGINA -- Seven more Saskatchewan residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

The deaths were located in the Far North East (one), North West (two), North Central (one), Saskatoon (two) and Central West (one) zones. One death was in the 20-39 age group, one was in the 40-59 age group, two were in there 60-79 age group and three were 80 years or older.

Saskatchewan has reported 637 deaths related to COVID-19 to date.

The province also reported 472 new cases on Friday. Of the new cases, 383 are in unvaccinated people, while 25 are partially vaccinated and 64 are fully vaccinated...

...As of Friday, 223 people are in hospital related to COVID-19, including 50 patients in intensive care...

...There are 4,234 cases currently considered active. Saskatoon continues to lead the province with 1,021 active cases. The north zone is also experiencing high active case counts, with 611 in the North West and 585 in the North Central. Regina sits at 291 as of Friday.

The death was a person 80 years or older from the North East zone. A total of 638 Saskatchewan residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

REGINA -- Saskatchewan broke three records Sunday as it reported the highest number of daily new cases, hospitalizations and ICU admissions to date.

Saskatchewan reported 543 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Sunday. With 439 new cases reported Saturday, the province added 982 new cases in total over the weekend.

There are 249 people in hospital related to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, including 55 patients in intensive care...

There are 253 people in hospital related to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, including 56 patients in intensive care.

A total of 641 Saskatchewan residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

There are 4,672 cases considered active in Saskatchewan as of Monday. Saskatoon leads the province with 1,157 active cases...

New COVID-19 cases drops, hospitalizations rise in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan has recorded its lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in over a week.

Officials reported 372 new cases on Tuesday after nine straight days of reporting more than 400 new daily cases.

The province said of the new cases, 111 are in unvaccinated youth aged 19 and under, including 75 under the age of 12 who cannot be vaccinated.

Nearly one in five of the new cases — 19.5 per cent — were in fully vaccinated people.

The seven-day average of new cases dropped to 474 — 39.4 per 100,000 people. However, that is up 16.7 per cent from a week ago...

...Overall, there are 4,700 active cases in Saskatchewan, the highest number since Dec. 9, when there were 4,707 active cases...

...Active cases are up 202.1 per cent from 30 days ago.

Meanwhile, a new hospitalization record was set.

The province reported 262 people in hospital, 54 of whom were in intensive care.

Health officials said 193 patients — 73.7 per cent — were not fully vaccinated.

Five new deaths were reported, pushing the overall total in the province to 646.

One death was in the 20-to-39 age group, two deaths in people between the ages of 60 to 79, and two deaths among those 80-plus...

Saskatchewan sets new COVID-19 hospitalization record

One day after breaking a hospitalization record for people being treated for COVID-19, a new one was set.

The province reported Wednesday that 465 people were in hospital, 54 of whom were in intensive care.

Health officials said 201 patients — 75.8 per cent — were not fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the number of new daily COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan jumped back up over 400.

The province reported 426 new cases on Wednesday — 340 in people who are not vaccinated and 12 in those partially vaccinated.

Of the unvaccinated cases, 107 are in children under 12 who cannot be vaccinated...

...The seven-day average for new cases dropped for the second consecutive day to 467 — 38.8 cases per 100,000 population.

Active cases rose slightly from the previous day to 4,706, with 1,079 of those in Saskatoon. Active cases in the province are up 192.7 per cent from 30 days ago...

...Five new deaths were reported on Wednesday, pushing the overall total in the province to 651.

One death was reported in the 40-to-59 age group, two between the ages of 60 and 79, and two aged 80 and older...

Saskatchewan ICU patients with COVID-19 hits all-time high

For the third day in a row, health officials in Saskatchewan are reporting a record-breaking amount of hospitalizations due to COVID-19.

Currently 273 patients are in hospital with COVID-19, including 58 in the ICU.

On Wednesday, there were 265 total hospitalizations.

On Monday, Saskatchewan reported the highest number of ICU patients with COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, with 56.

Officials also reported that seven more people with COVID-19 have died in the province, bringing the death toll up to 658.

There are 460 new COVID-19 cases in the province...

Today's statistics from the health ministry include another sign of a system that's under severe stress, with 276 people in hospital and 61 people in intensive care units. Both those numbers are records.

The spike is causing surgeries and other procedures to be cancelled or rescheduled...

As of Saturday, 282 patients positive for the virus are in hospital. This includes 63 patients in ICU, another new record for the province.

Health officials are reporting an additional 492 cases on Saturday...

A week after setting a record for daily new COVID-19 cases, Saskatchewan has set another one.

Officials reported 552 new cases on Sunday...

...Another record was set on Sunday when active cases reached a total of 4,864. Prior to this, the most active cases Saskatchewan has had since the beginning of the pandemic was 4,763 on Dec. 7.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 478 or 39.7 per 100,000 population.


There are 281 people in hospital with COVID-19, including 63 receiving intensive care.

Three more residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, the province also reported Sunday. The provincial death toll is now 670...

An increase of eight pushed the province's total to 289 hospitalizations. That figure breaks the record set the day before.

COVID-19: Saskatchewan surpasses 300 hospitalizations, province expands booster program

Never has Saskatchewan recorded 300 or more hospitalizations resulting from COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began — until Tuesday.

The Saskatchewan government announced 449 new cases and 490 more recoveries in its COVID-19 update on Tuesday afternoon...

...Saskatchewan also reported 10 new deaths from residents who tested positive for the virus. The total death count is now at 682.

While the active case count dropped by 54 cases from Monday’s amount to 4,734 on Tuesday, hospitalizations increased by 22 to 311.

Inpatient numbers are up to 246 province-wide, while the number of patients in intensive care units has moved up to 65. Saskatoon is reporting the most ICU patients at 29, followed by Regina at 17.

According to health officials, just over 77 per cent of the 311 patients who were eligible for vaccination are not fully immunized.

There are also no ICU beds available in six of the province’s 13 zones, including the far northwest, far north central, far northeast, northwest, central west and southeast zones.

The government update noted that almost one-third, or 31 per cent, of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39. In addition, one in six, or 16.8 per cent, of new cases eligible for vaccination were fully vaccinated...

REGINA -- Saskatchewan reported 394 new cases of COVID-19 and three more deaths related to the virus Wednesday.

Roughly 84 per cent of newly reported cases are not fully vaccinated. According to the province’s COVID-19 dashboard one in six, 16.4 per cent, of new cases eligible for vaccination were fully vaccinated...

... The province reported 295 individuals hospitalized with the virus with 67 people in ICU. Of the 295 patients, 221 - 75 per cent - were not fully vaccinated.

There are no ICU beds available in the Far North West, Far North Central, Far North East, North West, Central West or South East. The province said these regions have never had ICU capacity...

... In the province, 4,585 cases are considered active, and 540 more recoveries were reported Tuesday.

Saskatchewan officials reported a new record of daily COVID-19 cases on Thursday with 601 added.

The province also reported 10 more residents who tested positive for the virus have died.

Saskatchewan’s death toll is nearing 700, with 695 deaths reported as of Thursday.

There are 307 people in hospital including 72 in the ICU, another new record for the province.

Saskatoon reported the highest number of new cases on Thursday, with 165. Regina followed behind with 98 new cases...

Saskatchewan reaches 700 COVID-19 deaths as hospitalizations continue to climb

The Saskatchewan government says the province has recorded a total of 700 deaths from people who tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

On Friday, the provincial COVID-19 update showed five new deaths, 470 new cases and 365 more recoveries...

...There are now 4,770 cases which are considered active province-wide. The seven-day daily average of new COVID-19 cases is at 479, or just under 40 new cases per 100,000 population.

According to health officials, just under one-third, or 32.8 per cent, of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39. One in six, or 17.1 per cent, of new cases eligible for the vaccine were fully vaccinated.

Hospitalizations increased to a total of 313 with six more patients entering hospitals for treatment against COVID-19 on Friday. This includes 245 inpatient hospitalizations and 68 patients in intensive care units.

The government noted that 232 patients, or 74.1 per cent, were not fully vaccinated out of the 313 eligible for immunization...

REGINA -- Saskatchewan reported 354 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday with three additional deaths related to the virus.

Of the new infections, 22 per cent were eligible individuals who were fully vaccinated.

There are 4,718 active cases in the province on Sunday...

... There are 321 COVID-19 patients in hospital in the province, of those patients 69 are in the ICU, with 33 in Saskatoon and 19 in Regina.

...The province reported Monday that 325 people were being treated in hospital for COVID-19.

It broke the previous record of 321 that was set the previous day.

A record number of people — 75 — were being treated in intensive care. The previous high was on Sept. 30 when 72 people were in an ICU.

Officials said of the 325 patients eligible for vaccination, 250 — 76.8 per cent — were not fully vaccinated.

Hospitalizations have risen 135.5 per cent from 30 days ago...
