A BABY has died of blood poisoning after catching a gut bug which has hit 11 more infants.
Tragedy struck after a common bacteria called Serratia marcescens spread through Glasgow's Princess Royal Maternity Unit.
The premature baby was killed and another tot was fighting the bug last night.
Eight infants at the unit have been "colonised" with SM - meaning it is present in their bodies but is not causing any harm. Two more babies transferred from the PRM to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital have also been colonised.
An NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde spokeswoman conf i rmed they were "investigating two cases of SM bloodstream infections in babies treated in the neonatal unit at the PRM"...
