Somalia: Six children died of Measles in southern Somalia

Six children have been reported to have died of measles in some villages surrounding Afgoi district in the lower shabelle region in southern Somalia some 30km west of the Somali capital Mogadishu.
Measles which is one of the 6 killer diseases of children has been a serious issue in the surrounding villages in Afgoi district for the last couple of days.
Among the 6 dead children 4 hail from Marerey village, 2 from Awdegle location, while there are others who are still ailing of the diseases.
The Doctors in Afgoi district are very anxious about the outbreak of the diseases, and the rate of the death toll of the children in the surrounding villages in Afgoi district, and have appealed for emergency support from the UNICEF, WHO and the international community.
The children in the district and its surrounding villages are very vulnerable for the 6 killer diseases and some contagious diseases as well.
