Swine Flu (Influenza A) in Barcelona 11 Children hospitalized with symptoms
Collective sources from ?DRARI?, who work for the rights of unaccompanied chlidren, have said that 20 children and a teacher went on Monday to hospitals in El Mar and Sant Pau in Barcelona because they had Swine flu symptoms.
Swine Flu (Influenza A) in Barcelona 11 Children hospitalized with symptoms
11 abandoned children, from the ?Alcor? Hostel in Barcelona, and the day center of ?El Bosc?, in Vallirana (Barcelona), have been hospitalized with symptoms of influenza A, as reported by the ?Generalitat?, legal guardian of children and adolescents living in these shelters.
The Alcor hostel is a registered building located in the Poble Nou district of Barcelona, where about fifty abandoned children stay; they are mostly young North Africans and sub-Saharan Africans who do not have any adults in Catalonia to take care of them.
Apparently, the affected children divide their time between the day centres of El Bosc, where they spend the day, and the shelter at Alcor, where go to sleep.

After being treated by health services, eleven children were hospitalized and the rest returned to the juvenile reception center.
These sources have reported that among children who have returned to the shelter there are several with mild symptoms of influenza ?A? that will have to live over the coming days with healthy children.
According to DRARI, the Government has responded inappropriately as these children with flu symptoms have spent many hours alone and school management did not take into account that children who were waiting in the emergency room for treatment had not eaten.
The two shelters have been involved in several controversies during the past nine years and the director of ?the Directorate General of Care for Children and Adolescents? (DGAIA) in Spain, Xavier Soley, has pledged to close these centres by the end of this year or early next.
