Fuentes sanitarias del hospital de Jerez confirmaron ayer a este medio que la joven de 18 años que falleció el pasado 8 de septiembre de un ataque cardiaco tenía gripe A, enfermedad que pudo ser la que le causó la muerte. El fallecimiento provocó gran consternación en toda la ciudad dada la juventud de la víctima, especialmente en el instituto Andrés Benítez del que era alumna. El caso se cerró de forma temporal con la remisión al laboratorio de Granada de una serie de muestras -tales como sangre y secreciones- para que su análisis despejara las dudas sobre tan inesperado y extraño fallecimiento. Las primeras pruebas realizadas reportaron un resultado negativo, no así las segundas, que se realizaron más en profundidad, y que finalmente, confirmaron la presencia del virus.

Las mismas fuentes sanitarias consultadas por este periódico aseguraron a este medio que, por el momento, "es raro el día en que no ingresa una persona con sospechas de que pueda estar padeciendo esta enfermedad vírica". Dependiendo del estado del enfermo éste es ingresado en el hospital o, por el contrario, remitido a su vivienda para que supere allí la enfermedad en atención domiciliaria.

Como se recordará, la joven llegó al departamento de Urgencias del hospital de Jerez el martes 8 de septiembre procedente de la clínica de Asisa. Dada su gravedad fue ingresada en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del centro sanitario donde falleció unas horas más tarde.

Al cierre de esta edición se desconocía si la joven padecía patologías previas que la hicieran más vulnerable a la gripe A, si bien tras su fallecimiento se aseguró que padecía una patología cardiaca.

Algunos casos de gripe A se están cursando con absoluta normalidad y los afectados se recuperan en apenas una semana, pero por el contrario hay otros casos en los que además de la neumonía en ambos pulmones el virus afecta directamente al corazón provocando ataques cardiacos de fatales consecuencias.

Este caso se convierte en el primer fallecimiento por gripe A en Jerez. Cabe destacar que a última hora de la noche de ayer este medio consiguió la confirmación oficial del SAS, que reconoció que la joven tenía el virus.

Seg?n fuentes de la delegaci?n provincial de Salud, el SAS sigue con ello las directrices que se dieron en el ?ltimo Consejo Interterritorial de Salud, en el que participan la ministra de Sanidad y los consejeros auton?micos del ramo.

El objetivo de no causar una alarma social en torno a la nueva gripe es esgrimido tambi?n a la hora de eludir declaraciones del delegado provincial de Salud o del gerente del hospital sobre el fallecimiento de la joven. De esta forma, el SAS s?lo facilitar? tasas de mortalidad como ya lo hace ahora con la incidencia de la gripe A, sobre la que tampoco aporta n?mero de infectados sino tasas por cada cien mil habitantes. Hay que recordar que tras la aparici?n de los primeros casos, el SAS informaba diariamente no s?lo de los casos confirmados sino incluso de los sospechosos, una comunicaci?n que se dej? de hacer cuando se empez? a incrementar el n?mero de afectados y la gripe A fue considerada una pandemia. Ahora la pol?tica de comunicaci?n sobre esta enfermedad est? basada sobre todo en ofrecer a la poblaci?n mensajes de tranquilidad e insistir en las medidas de prevenci?n.

A los grupos de riesgo se les remite a su centro de salud para vacunarse contra la gripe habitual, desde el 28 de septiembre hasta mediados de octubre, y se informa que en ese momento se les comunicar? si necesitan la vacuna de la nueva gripe y en qu? momento tienen que ir al centro para que se la pongan.
