[TD]Suspicious signs were observed in poultry carcasses during postmortem inspection in one abattoir in Kaohsiung City. Samples were sent to the Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI) for analysis. Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N8 and H5N2 subtypes were confirmed by the AHRI. The carcasses were destroyed and thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted in the abattoir. Although the farm of origin was found empty, standard procedures including cleaning, disinfection and movement restriction were implemented.[/TD]
