Health minister Yaung Chih-liang said that the public need not fear a widespread H1N1 outbreak. That's after the heath ministry reported the 42nd H1N1-caused death on Saturday. That death came along with recent reports of 45 flu-infected soldiers.
Yaung spoke about the situation on Monday. "Right now any speculation is pure conjecture," Yaung said. "Many people have already been vaccinated, so we don't think there's much chance of a widespread outbreak. These kinds of cluster infections are to be expected."
An army spokesman said that of the 45 soldiers that tested positive for influenza, six tested positive for the H1N1 strain.
Yaung also said the health ministry is closely monitoring the population. He said if there's widespread doubt, the ministry will initiate a vaccination campaign. Yaung also said there are nearly 700 medical institutions providing vaccines. He called on the public to get vaccinated.
