TYPHOID OUTBREAK IN HSINCHU
2011-05-15 06:00
The Centers for Disease Control has confirmed a rare typhoid outbreak in the Hsinchu area. Four diners suffered from similar symptoms after eating from the same restaurant. After an investigation, the result shows that the owner of the business is actually a typhoid carrier herself, who did not experience any signs of the disease. The infected individual has been given medications for it, and is currently being quarantined.
Four diners, including three Hsinchu Science and Technology Park workers, ate takeout from this Southeast Asian eatery on April 7th.
All four later developed fevers and severe diarrhea, and were eventually diagnosed with typhoid.
