3 H1N1 and 12 Dengue cases reported in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: At least three more fresh cases including a doctor affected by H1N1 has been identified in the district in the last 24hours. With this a total of 105 cases have been reported since January.

A doctor working with a private eye hospital was tested positive. However, since his condition is not serious he has been kept under house quarantine. Similarly, another 44-year-old women, a resident of Vavipalayam in Tirupur was confirmed positive for H1N1. She was admitted at the G Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital on Wednesday and immediately tested for H1N1 and it came back positive. She is undergoing treatment at the hospital

55-yr-old man dies of H1N1 in Coimbatore as toll reaches six

COIMBATORE: A 55-year-old H1N1 patient undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Coimbatore died on Saturday morning. With this, the number of death cases reported in Coimbatore district has gone up to six.

The deceased Poovaiyal, a resident of Palathotam village near Gobichettiyapalam in Erode district, was admitted to PSG hospital in Coimbatore after her health conditions deteriorated. S Prem Kumar, acting medical officer, PSG hospital, said she was admitted to the hospital on November 8 with severe respiratory problems and was ventilator from the first day. She tested positive for H1N1 the same day after her throat swabs were analysed. Despite treatment, she developed intense respiratory complications and finally was declared dead on Saturday.

Two more H1N1 deaths in Coimbatore, taking toll to nine

COIMBATORE: Two more H1N1 deaths were reported in the city on Wednesday taking the total death toll to nine since January 2012.

A 40-year-old woman who tested positive for H1N1 was referred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital from Udumalpet, but breathed her last at the isolation ward of the government hospital early on Wednesday morning.

A 28-year-old woman staying near Singanallur was declared dead at a private hospital in the city where she was tested and found to be infected with H1N1 virus.

Coimbatore: A 55-year-old man from Tirupur died of swine flu at a government hospital in Coimbatore on Tuesday, hospital sources said.

The man hailing from Mudalipalayam in Tirupur was suffering from fever and throat pain and was undergoing treatment in a hospital at Perundurai in Erode district, for the last 15 days, hospital sources said

COIMBATORE: A fifty-two-year-old man affected by H1N1 virus died in the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), on Tuesday morning.
The deceased Mayilsamy, a resident of Mudalipalayam in Tirupur district was admitted at the hospital on Saturday after the case was referred from the G Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial hospital in the city. According to P Sivaprakasam, resident medical officer, CMCH, Mayilsamy was admitted at the hospital on November 25. He underwent treatment at GKNM for two days before being referred to the CMCH, he said.
"When the patient was admitted at the hospital he was in critical condition and suffering from acute respiratory problems and his blood pressure was high. He was also suffering from severe renal failure, and was highly diabetic," said the officer.

COIMBATORE: In the last one week three separate cases of H1N1 deaths have been reported in the city. With the most recent deaths, the number of H1N1 deaths reported in district hospitals has increased to 12. While two were patients at a private hospital, one succumbed at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Armugham (65), a resident of Edappady in Salem district and Karupannan(58) from Peelamedu, both undergoing treatment at the GKNM died on December 3 and December 5 respectively. According to the hospital authorities, Armugham, who was a block development officer, was admitted at a private hospital in Erode where he stayed for a week and was later discharged. However, a few days later his health deteriorated again and the hospital referred him to the GKNM hospital in Coimbatore.

44 year old man dies of swine flu in Tamil Nadu

Coimbatore: A 44-year-old man, hailing from Gobichettipalayam in Erode district, died of swine flu in the Government Hospital in Coimbatore on Tuesday, hospital sources said.

Saravanan was admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore a few days ago and after it was confirmed he had symptoms of the flu, he was shifted to the Government hospital, early on Tuesday.
