13 confirmed cases of Shigella in Grayson County

RAYSON COUNTY -- The Grayson County Health Department says it has confirmed 13 cases of Shigella in Grayson County.

Health department director John Teel says the first confirmed case was October 18.

Eight confirmed cases are students within Sherman ISD; Six students attend Sory Elementary, one attends Fairview Elementary and one attends Dillingham Intermediate...

More Shigella cases reported in Grayson County

SHERMAN, TX-We told you last week about an outbreak of Shigella in Sherman, now other Grayson county residents came down with the highly contagious bacterial infection. As of Thursday,19 residents have been diagnosed with the sickness.

Five new cases of Shigella have been diagnosed since we first reported on the illness last Friday: 3 in Denison, 1 in Howe and 1 in Van Alstyne. There have also been new cases reported at a Sherman elementary school.

Grayson County Health Department's Amanda Ortez said the most recent Shigella case was reported Tuesday in a Sory Elementary School student...

GRAYSON COUNTY, TEXAS -- We've been following the shigella outbreak in Grayson County for weeks.

Now, as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, the health department is urging those who have the symptoms to not cook for others.

The shigella outbreak started at Sherman ISD and has spread to Denison ISD, as well as other places in the county.

Two new cases were confirmed Monday. Now, a total of 36 children and adults have been infected...

More than 60 cases of Shigella in Grayson Co. outbreak

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- A Shigella outbreak continues to hit Grayson County hard. Health Department officials say new cases are being reported every day.

News 12 last reported there were 36 cases just before Thanksgiving. But, in just 13 days that number has jumped to 61 confirmed cases in Grayson County.

A command center has been set up at the Health Department, where they say employees are working to stop Shigella from spreading...
