ROBINSON - The Robinson ISD District Nurse confirms there are two meningitis cases at Robinson ISD Primary School. Test results for the first case determined the student had viral meningitis, but the district is waiting for the results of the second case.

Three More Cases Of Viral Meningitis In Local School District

WACO (April 30, 2015) Two more Midway ISD students and a school staff member have been diagnosed with viral meningitis, the latest in a scattered series of reports of the illness in area schools.

The latest cases occurred at Hewitt Elementary School, Midway ISD spokeswoman Traci Marlin confirmed Thursday.

Meningitis comes in three forms, viral, bacterial and fungal, and the viral form is the least serious, doctors say.

Late last week, Robinson ISD officials confirmed that two students at the same school had been diagnosed with the illness.

The affected students were in separate classes and the cases were likely are not related, an official said.

On April 17 the Waco ISD confirmed that students at two Waco schools had been diagnosed with viral meningitis.

On April 14, the Midway ISD confirmed that a staff member at Midway Middle School has the illness.

Two students at the district?s Castleman Creek Elementary School were diagnosed with viral meningitis earlier this month...

Whitney Independent School District announced Friday, April 24, that a student on the intermediate school campus had been diagnosed with meningitis.

Superintendent Gene Solis said Friday that it had not yet been determined whether the student had viral or bacterial meningitis, but the child?s mother reported that test results confirmed the illness was viral over the weekend...

Rapoport Academy student confirmed to have viral meningitis

Rapoport Independent School District was notified Wednesday that a high school student out sick this week has viral meningitis.

Rapoport Interim Superintendent Alexis Neumann said all parents have been notified through email or by phone and the district is bringing in an external cleaning crew to sanitize the building Wednesday after school to prevent the spread of the disease...

Waco-McLennan County Public Health District is now looking into more than a dozen reported cases of viral meningitis in recent weeks. Thirteen samples of spinal fluid submitted to the CDC found echovirus 30, a subtype of enterovirus.

MCLENNAN COUNTY - Waco-McLennan County Public Health District is taking note of an unusually high number of viral meningitis cases that started popping up in the area at the beginning of April. Viral meningitis is not a reportable condition, but the number and frequency of cases since April 1st is causing some concern.

The Health Department submitted 15 samples of spinal fluid from patients to the Center for Disease Control and in 13 of those samples echovirus 30, a subtype of enterovirus, was identified.

The Health District will be further looking into these cases to try and understand what is behind the cluster and to further educate people in the area about disease prevention and control...
