The Community of Madrid has registered a whole of 52,8 cases of flu for every 100.000 inhabitants, according to the last information of the National Network of Epidemiologic Alertness of the Institute of Health Carlos III. The activity gripal keeps on increasing progressively in Spain and the winter arrival has propitiated that duplicate the cases in one week, up to coming to 82,62 contagions for 100.000 inhabitants. This information corresponds a week from December 19 until December 25 and, according to this organism of the Department of Science and Innovation, the incidence of the illness in Spain exceeds for the first time the value threshold of this period, concentrated on 67,4 cases for 100.000 inhabitants. AT LEAST, 70 HOSPITALIZED ONES AND 4 DECEASED In the period 2010-2011 continues the alertness of serious hospitalized confirmed cases of flu, up to the point of which already there have been notified 71 serious hospitalized confirmed cases of flu, 87,3 per cent infected by the pandemic virus A/H1N1. Also, one has registered four deaths. Also, 63,4 per cent of infected hospitalized men and 36,6 per cent are women, four of which were pregnant of more than 30 weeks of gestation. In the distribution for groups of age, there are four cases five-year-old minors (5,6 %) and 35 cases in persons from 15 to 44 years (49,3 %).
As regards the clinical picture of these patients, 30 of the cases (75 %) were presenting some factor of risk of complications of flu, whereas 81,5 per cent they developed pneumonia, 24,4 per cent bacterial coinfection and 36,7 per cent syndrome of respiratory sharp distrés. This propitiated that up to 39,4 per cent of the cases were admitted into an Intensive care unit, whereas up to 82,6 per cent of the cases with factors of risk it had not received the anti-flu vaccine of this period.
