There is a new disease that affects people who regularly take high doses of marijuana. It?s called cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, or CHS, and its symptoms include nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, which can be treated temporarily with hot baths and a couple of days of abstinence. The disease is so little known that it is often misdiagnosed, with many doctors unaware of the link between marijuana and the illness. It was identified for the first time in Australia but the syndrome is beginning to cause alarm in Europe, particularly in the UK. Dr Sauid Ishaq, professor of gastroenterology at Birmingham City University, is one of the first to study CHS and he says: ?The disease is highly underestimated, there is urgent need for information.?...
