OTTAWA - Paramedics and children's hospital staff are treating 21 students and four adults at a downtown hotel after they all began getting sick Friday.
According to fire department spokesman Marc Messier, firefighters arrived at the Quality Hotel at 290 Rideau St. with masks in case there was some sort of airborne bug.
They also did air checks for carbon monoxide, which came back negative.
Paramedic spokesman JP Trottier said the illness appears to be some type of gastro-intestinal problem that causes vomiting and nausea.
Food poisoning was initially suspected, but all the students had eaten together at a restaurant and only some of them became ill....more from the source.
