2 swine flu cases reported, doctors say sporadic

Two new cases of swine flu, recently detected in Lucknow, were reported to the swine flu control room of the Health Directorate on Friday.
However, doctors at SGPGI ? who released the reports ? maintained that these are sporadic cases and with rising immunity among people against the H1N1 virus, less number of swine flu cases are expected this year.

These two cases have come up after a gap of almost three months. While seven people had succumbed to the disease in 2010, 17 had died in 2009 ? taking the total number of swine flu deaths in the state to 24. With these two cases, a total of 384 patients have tested positive till now, while last year, 871 patients had tested positive in UP.

Comment: These numbers are just total rubbish. The consolidated status report of Dec 26 lists 1606 confirmed cases and 43 fatalities. 394 cases and 29 fatalities in 2010. 1212 cases and 14 fatalities in 2009.
