Turkey has been alarmed over a possible outbreak of swine flu after four people died from the officially named H1N1 virus in the last five days, as the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that 16 people have been killed by the disease in Turkey since the start of 2014.
Fears have been growing as the number of swine flu-related deaths increased. But Ministry of Health Undersecretary Ey?p G?m?ş, speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday about the recent incidences of deadly swine flu, allayed fears of an epidemic in Turkey as 11 people fell to the disease in 2014 compared with five since the beginning of 2015.
[h=1]Health Minister M?ezzinoğlu: 30 die of swine flu[/h] Health Minister Mehmet M?ezzinoğlu said on Monday that 30 people have died from swine flu in Turkey up till now, an increase of 19 people since the previous statement from the ministry six days ago.
In his remarks during a press conference in Ankara, M?ezzinoğlu informed the public that a total of 39 people have died due to influenza; while 30 of them died of the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu. He stated that 366 patients out of 4,300 suffering from influenza were diagnosed with H1N1 virus. He also informed the public that the number of patients suffering from flu and admitted to hospitals has increased in the last 15-20 days.
M?ezzinoğlu also said a more detailed statement will be made on Wednesday.
Last Tuesday Ministry of Health Undersecretary Ey?p G?m?ş reported that 11 people died due to the disease in 2014, while five have died since the beginning of 2015 during a press conference regarding the recent deadly cases of swine flu in Turkey.
[h=1]Swine flu death toll in Turkey rises to 33[/h] Turkish Minister of Health Mehmet M?ezzinoğlu has announced that the number of people in Turkey who have died from the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, has risen to 33, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Wednesday, meaning three more people died from the disease since Monday.
M?ezzinoğlu stated that 60 percent of those who died due to the virus had preexisting medical conditions.
One of the three people who have died since Monday was a man in the southwestern province of Muğla. The 58-year-old man went to a hospital because of coughing and high fever, before being diagnosed with swine flu. The man died on Tuesday at an İzmir hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Many people in Turkey have become alarmed by the recent deaths due to the H1N1 virus. However, although the Ministry of Health admits that swine flu cases are on the rise as a seasonal occurrence, it maintains that the situation does not amount to an epidemic. Experts state that no epidemic is expected and that the best way to tackle the disease is for individuals to practice good personal hygiene.

A written statement from the ministry on Wednesday said a total of 42 people died from swine flu in Turkey, raising fears that the H1N1 virus would claim more lives.
Health Minister Mehmet M?ezzinoğlu said earlier in the day that 60 percent of those who died due to the virus had pre-existing medical conditions which made them more vulnerable.
One of the people who died since Monday was a man in the southwestern province of Muğla. The 58-year-old man went to a hospital complaining of coughing and a high fever and was diagnosed with swine flu. He died on Tuesday at a hospital in İzmir, where he had been sent for treatment.
[h=1]Thirteen put under medical supervision on swine flu suspicion in western Turkey[/h]
A total of 13 people, including seven children, were put under medical supervision on swine flu suspicion in the western province of Sakarya on Thursday.
The patients who went to the hospital on Wednesday in Pamukova district complaining of cold were diagnosed with pneumonia and their blood samples were sent to a laboratory in Ankara. Until the results of the samples are announced, the patients will be kept under a medical supervision in the hospital.
Emergency service of the hospital was closed temporarily and other patients are being treated in a separate place at the hospital.
Ministry of Health: 57 people were killed by influenza

[h=1]Swine flu survivor dies of internal bleeding in Turkey[/h] The 42-year old Banu Akar had been receiving intensive treatment for a month after doctors detected a case of swine flu.
Her treatment had been going well, and she was taken out of quarantine after the tests revealed she had been cured of the swine flu. Unfortunately internal bleeding had occurred in her lungs, and the doctors could not rescue her.
