BELL COUNTY (KCEN)- As of March 8 Bell County has seen four recent cases of pertussis or more commonly known as the whooping cough.

The Bell County Health District says school children are involved. They told KCEN HD that there is a possible outbreak at Cater Elementary School in Temple, one confirmed and several probable cases at Lakewood Elementary in Belton, a case with a 9-week-old, and 9-year-old at Kennedy Powell Elementary in Temple, with several probably cases with the family...

BELL COUNTY - More cases of whooping cough have been confirmed in the Bell County area.

As of Monday, there are 14 confirmed cases in both Belton and Temple, with eight probable cases that have yet to be confirmed. The health department is expecting more cases to surface...

Seven cases of pertussis were confirmed by the Bell County Public Health District, officials announced Monday.

Lacey Sanders , a disease surveillance coordinator for the health district, said the number of laboratory-confirmed cases in the county is now 21, with an additional unconfirmed 20.

Five Bell County schools, including at least one in the Killeen Independent School District, have reported confirmed cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough...

WACO - The number of confirmed cases of pertussis continues to rise in Central Texas, and the disease is even spreading to the classroom.

The number of confirmed cases in McLennan county jumped to 11 from 4 in just one week. Most of those cases are coming from Robinson ISD...

MIDWAY - Three more cases of pertussis have turned up in Central Texas Schools.

Midway ISD reports that there was one case at Woodway Elementary, one at Woodgate Elementary and one at Midway High as of Monday.

Reports of whooping cough have been popping up all over Central Texas as of late, especially in local schools...

More and more children are being diagnosed with "whooping cough" and its spreading especially quickly in Bell County.

Health officials are calling this outbreak the worst in four years...

...As of Thursday there have been 58 reported cases of whooping cough in Bell County and 26 cases reported in McLennan...

More Than 100 Confirmed Cases Of Whooping Cough Reported Here

(May 7, 2012)?The number of confirmed cases of whopping cough in Central Texas has risen to 117, health officials said Monday.

As of Monday, Bell County health officials have confirmed 88 cases of pertussis.

In McLennan County, officials revised the total number downward Monday to 29, saying that some tests on earlier cases were misread.

Most of the cases in McLennan County are clustered in the Robinson area...

PALESTINE ? The Northeast Texas Public Health District has reported a concerning number of pertussis (whooping cough) cases in Anderson County ? urging the public to be aware of the disease and take the proper precautions.

ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Last week, the state of Washington declared an epidemic after the worst outbreak of whooping cough in decades, and we are beginning to see whooping cough rear its ugly head in East Texas.

More than 20 cases of whooping cough have been confirmed in Anderson County alone.

Authorities say most of the cases have been in children seven to 10 years old...

DALLAS -

Some parts of North Texas are seeing a surge in the number of whooping cough cases. Children's Medical Center in Dallas said the bacterial infection is to blame for an infant's recent death.

Just in the last month there were 12 documented cases of the illness at Children's. In most cases contagious parents infected their children without even knowing it...

WICHITA FALLS ? The Wichita County Health Department reported a case of Pertussis, also known as Whooping Cough, this year and 383 cases have been reported statewide.

The health department warns Pertussis is a highly contagious bacterial respiratory infection, causing serious complications and even death in infants.

Of the 383 reported cases in Texas, 82 are located in North Texas area which includes Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, Jack, Montague, Wichita, Wilbarger and Young counties.

The Dallas-Fort Worth metro area is also included in those numbers...

The Bell County Public Health District is alerting parents to be on the look out for signs of Pertussis, a highly contagious bacterial disease that can prove fatal among children below the age of 1, according to Lacey Sanders, Disease Surveillance/SNS Coordinator...

...Overall, the number of confirmed and probable cases is on the rise...Four years ago, there were 34 confirmed cases of Pertussis in Bell County "for the year," she said.

In comparison, there have been 106 confirmed cases since this past February, Sanders said, noting there have been 16 cases so far in June.

Several cases reportedly involved area schools and daycare facilities...

DALLAS, Texas -- According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, there have been more than 1,500 cases of pertussis, also called whooping cough, in Texas. That's a 61 percent increase over last year...
