Fifth case of shigellosis confirmed
Schools disinfecting common areas districtwide

The Ector County Health Department Friday confirmed a fifth case of shigellosis in an adult employed at Sam Houston Elementary School.

Ector County Independent School District Communications Director Mike Adkins said earlier this week that four students had contracted the illness ? two at Blackshear Elementary, one at Sam Houston and one at Noel elementary schools.

Gino Solla, Ector County Health Department director, said the fifth case is someone who works at Sam Houston Elementary. He said his agency is continuing its investigation...
