Viral meningitis reported locally

There have been several reported cases of viral meningitis in Mount Pleasant, according to local pediatrician Dr. Gerald Stagg, M.D.

?There have been several cases, but not a number out of the ordinary,? Stagg confirmed Thursday. ?Different viruses have their seasons. We see a lot of RSV and flu in the winter months primarily, and enteroviruses primarily show up in the spring, summer and fall.?

Stagg said the infectious disease had put several patients in the hospital, but he could not release details about any current patients.

?We have put several in the hospital,? he said. ?They?ve all done well and gone home.? ...
