CORPUS CHRISTI - Nueces County has seen a spike in an infectious disease that causes diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, but the health department have been unable to pinpoint the cause of the outbreak, prompting officials to issue a second alert Friday.

Doctors have reported about 154 cases of shigellosis this year, up from 60 a month and a half ago when the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District issued its first alert...
