Health ministry announces outbreak of measles and rubella
The measles outbreak in Kamwenge is the second this year and it has been largely blamed on the influx of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo and cultural attitudes towards immunisation.

The ministry of health has announced an outbreak of measles in the districts of Kamwenge and Kamuli.

According to a 9th August statement issued by the ministry and signed by the Director General of health services, Prof. Anthony Mbonye, the outbreak in Kamwenge is the second this year and it has been largely blamed on the influx of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo and cultural attitudes towards immunisation. Religious cults like Triple 6 in Kamwenge have also been blamed for preventing members from immunizing their children.

The statement indicates that in Kamuli district the sub-counties of Butandisi, Nawanago, Balawoli, Nabwigulu and Kamuli municipality are the most affected...
