SIX cases of scarlet fever have been confirmed in the county this morning (Thurs).

Public Health England (PHE) is yet to issue specifics about the cases reported so far.

The Hereford Times understands that some of the six are within a single school...

An investigation has been launched following reports of an outbreak of scarlet fever at a Perthshire adventure centre.

People taking part in activities at Dalguise, near Dunkeld have been experiencing symptoms of the illness, which closed several schools in Dundee last month.

Now, Health Protection Scotland (HPI) is liaising with NHS Boards and Perth and Kinross Council to deal with the issue...

One confirmed and several unconfirmed cases of the disease at a school in Feltham

Several unconfirmed cases of scarlet fever have been reported at Feltham Hill Junior School, getwestlondon understands.

At least one parent, who does not wish to be identified, has confirmed their child was diagnosed with the disease at West Middlesex Hospital, and added several other pupils had come down with it too, at the newly named Oak Hill Academy on Ashford Road.

It is not yet known exactly how many pupils have been affected...

Figures from government organisation Public Health England show there have been 57 cases in Coventry so far this year

Cases of scarlet fever are on the rise in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Figures from government organisation Public Health England show there have been 57 cases in Coventry since the beginning of the year.

That compares with just 53 cases in the whole of last year, 52 cases in all of 2012 and 21 in all of 2011...

Scarlet fever cases soar in East Staffordshire

WARNINGS have been made to parents to keep a sharp lookout for signs of scarlet fever after an outbreak of the infectious disease.

Diagnosed cases increased in East Staffordshire have risen sharper than anywhere else in the county, with 29 cases reported in the first quarter of 2014 ? up from just two in the same time last year...

Huge spike in scarlet fever cases

THERE has a been a huge spike in the cases of scarlet fever.

Figures published by Public Health England (PHE) show there have been 24 confirmed cases of the once life-threatening bacterial illness in Worcestershire since January - more than double the ten in the first three months of last year.

Five of those cases occurred in Redditch, whereas there was just one in the borough compared with the same period last year.

There have been seven cases reported in Worcester, six in Wychavon and three in Bromsgrove.

A significant rise has been seen across the whole West Midlands region with 255 in the first three months of the year compared to just 98 in the first three months of 2013.

Nationally there have been 4,157 cases so far this year - more than double the normal average for the season but it is not being considered an epidemic or even an outbreak by health chiefs...

Scarlet fever continues to spread across East Staffordshire

...Figures show there have been 94 reported cases county-wide since September, 29 of which were in East Staffordshire.

Figures collated from 2011 show there were just two confirmed cases during the same period three years ago.

Nationally, there have been 1,000 confirmed cases of the illness in the last week...

Cases of potentially deadly scarlet fever have doubled in the region in the last year, new figures reveal.

The shocking statistics published by Public Health England earlier this month detail 530 victims in the last year, compared to just 214 in the 12 months.

The public health body reported 7,128 cases nationally from 2013 to 2014 - more than double the 3,214 tally for the year before...

Cumbria suffers worst outbreak of scarlet fever since records began

Health chiefs in Cumbria say 2014 has been an ?exceptional? year for scarlet fever, reporting the highest figures since records began.

In the last two weeks alone, there have been 62 confirmed cases of scarlet fever in the county, prompting public health chiefs to issue a warning to parents, schools and nurseries.

Dr John Astbury, from Cumbria and Lancashire Public Health England (PHE) Centre, said: ?This has been an exceptional year for the disease and we can confirm that the figures are higher than any year since our records began in 2008...

Following substantial increases in scarlet fever earlier in the year, early indications from Public Health England (PHE) shows the current 2014 to 2015 season indicating low levels of infection, but they are higher than normal for this time of year...
