Public consultation (MLX 355): Proposals for changes to legislation and working procedures during an influenza pandemic


The MHRA, jointly with the with the Department of Health and the Home Office, have issued proposals for changes to legislation and working procedures during an influenza pandemic (consultation letter MLX 355 and accompanying Impact Assessment).



MLX 355 is in six parts:

Part 1: Proposals to amend legislation governing the emergency supply of prescription only medicines, not restricted only to the circumstances of an influenza pandemic

Part II: Proposals for changes to legislation governing the manufacture, distribution, sale and supply of medicines during an influenza pandemic

Part III: Proposals for changes to legislation governing whole blood and blood components during an influenza pandemic

Part IV: Proposals concerning the availability of medical devices during an influenza pandemic

Part V: Proposals for changes to the legislation governing the supply of controlled drugs during an influenza pandemic

Part VI: Proposals for changes to NHS Pharmaceutical Services Regulations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and related aspects of the relevant drug tariffs during an influenza pandemic

[Scotland will be consulting separately on any necessary changes to the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services) (Scotland) Regulations 1995 and any related aspects of the Scottish Drug Tariff.]

This consultation is open for 6 weeks.

Responses should arrive no later than 20 March 2009.
