As of September 11, 2026 , 1:20 pm ET - a total of USDA confirmed + highly probable herds via states = 1,231


Arizona = 5 dairy cattle herds, incl. 1 bulk tank test result, also listed as "affected" by NMTS

California= 822: all dairy cattle herds, also listed as "affected" by NMTS (49 herds are reinfections link link)

Colorado = 65: dairy cattle herds (one herd counted as reinfected link) and dairy bulk tank test results, also listed as "affected" by NMTS

Idaho = 178*: 177 dairy cattle herds, 1 alpaca herd, also listed as "affected" by NMTS (*USDA removed 3 herds from July 14 data, see above) and then added back in with a date of July 24).

Iowa = 13: all dairy cattle herds

Kansas = 4: all dairy cattle herds

Michigan = 31: all dairy cattle herds, also listed as "affected" by NMTS

Minnesota = 11: 9 dairy cattle herds (1 is bulk milk testing), + 1 goat herd link , + in March '25 1 bulk milk (indicative of a herd) per state rpt link., also listed as "affected" by NMTS

Nebraska= 1 dairy herd

Nevada = 11 dairy herds, 4 confirmed herds with D1.1 strain (wild bird strain), includes some bulk tanks results, also listed as "affected" by NMTS

New Mexico = 9: all dairy herds

North Carolina = 1 dairy herd

Ohio = 1 dairy herd

Oklahoma = 2: all dairy cattle herds

Oregon = 1 swine herd link

South Dakota = 7: all dairy cattle

Texas = 38: all dairy herds, also listed as "affected" by NMTS, state link

Utah = 29: 29 dairy herds
