A total of seven deaths from the human influenza virus have been recorded so far in the Region of Valparaiso, according to a report issued Thursday by the Regional Ministerial Secretariat (SEREMI) Health.

As noted, two of the deaths correspond to the single cause of influenza A (H1N1), and the other five are associated with the suffering of other diseases.

The latter case involved a man of 24 years died at his home without being aware of their infection, as ascertained by a post mortem examination.

The SEREMI Health, Fernando Olmedo, warned that "if we make a comparative analysis with other situations also cause mortality, we must say that the pandemic in the region has a low fatality rate."

The authority also reported the decrease in the number of respiratory diseases at the primary health care in the region.
