The vaccination campaign against influenza viruses, mainly human influenza virus has been reinforced among the population in this winter season.

Veracruz .- The Director of Public Health of the State Health Secretariat, Luis Fernando Antiga Tinoco, reported that reinforced the vaccination campaign against influenza virus A (H1N1) in the mountain regions.

He explained that the vaccination campaign against influenza viruses, mainly human influenza virus has been reinforced among the population in this winter season.

He noted that on January 11 next vaccination will be extended to other vulnerable population, since that date will be completed by the application of the vaccine to the health sector and individuals already identified.

He argued that so far have been used 700 thousand doses of seasonal influenza vaccine and 200 thousand against the A (H1N1), however, said that the latter is still existing 800 thousand to apply in January.

In an interview, Antiga Tinoco said the vaccine against influenza virus has not caused any negative reaction as in other countries, which urge people away from their application to prevent the disease.

Finally, he noted that there has been a 20 percent increase in cases of respiratory disease mainly in mountain areas, while in the particular in the conurbation Veracruz-Boca del Rio is estimated 10 per cent.
