Viet Nam had 2 bird flu deaths earlier this year [2010], a 38-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl.

I have read in numerous stories of late - that Vietnam has 2 deaths for 2010. That is not true. The WHO did not report one death, although they did confirm it. The Ministry of Health confirmed the death. I would think that should be sufficient. Here is my data:

Influenza A/H5N1 is not spread from person to person

HANOI (TH) - Two people in northern Vietnam have bird flu caused by H5N1 virus, and health authorities say 11 people are another blood test for infection if they have malignant disease or not.

These patients are said to hospital with high fever, usually a sign of very sick people and all cases of avian influenza.

According to health authorities, two people were confirmed bird flu as a man and a 22-year-old girl just 27 months. All of these persons live in Bac Kan province.

"All patients have been isolated and the experiment was conducted to find the cause of the disease." Liu Xuan Hoa, director of the Medical Center of Cho Moi in Bac Kan said, "This child girl infected with bird flu in a village with a man ill be testing confirmed the H5N1 virus. "

According to local sources, four of whom were hospital patients.

I am very disconcerted about the continuing delay in publication by authoritative sources of a comprehensive report on this incidents, with accurate account of confirmed and suspected cases number and updated health conditions, patients under quarantine, isolation or treatment.

While I appreciate greatly the work of all contributors, I am asking himself whether is it possible to contact some of the cited local sources to seek a definite account for this suspected cluster of human A/H5N1 avian influenza virus infections in Vietnamese Bac Can province.

Regarding the second case positive for influenza virus A (H5) in Bac Kan

Department of Preventive Medicine and Environment announced Monday cases positive for influenza virus A (H5) in Bac Kan province as follows:

Female patients, 02 years old Address: Na Tao village, commune such as grass, Cho Moi, Bac Kan. Onset of disease manifestation on 02/4/2010 with 400C high fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose. On 04/4/2010 the home patients were taken to hospital treatment Cho Moi district.

On 07/4/2010, Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology answer test results positive for influenza virus A (H5).

Currently, patient health is stable, no fever, difficulty breathing and not being managed, treated in hospital in Cho Moi, Bac Kan.

Initial epidemiological investigation showed that, at home and around the area where patients are living with sick poultry phenomenon / death, families slaughter sick birds to eat.

Department of Preventive Medicine and Environment continue to strongly recommend that people perform some of the following measures:

1.Khi detect poultry sickness, death is not absolute slaughter and use that to immediately notify local authorities handled promptly;

2.Khong transporting and selling poultry of unknown origin, especially in areas with bird flu outbreak on ensuring cooked, boiled drinking, washing hands with soap before eating and after using the bathroom students;

3.Khi symptoms of fever, cough, breathing problems related to bird flu soon have to nearest medical facility to be examined and treated promptly.

Department of Preventive Medicine and Environment reported cases positive for influenza virus A (H5) in Bac Kan province as follows:

Male patients, aged 22, address: As can commune, Cho Moi, Bac Kan province. On 28/3/2010, the patient appeared fever; On 30/03/2010, the patient to the commune health check up and Cho Moi district hospital treatment; On 02/4/2010, the patient was transferred Hospital to Bac Kan province and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia suspected influenza A (H5N1), to 20h00 on the same patient are forwarded to the Tropical Disease Hospital Central.

On 03/4/2010, Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology confirmed test results positive for influenza virus A (H5).

Currently, patients receiving mechanical ventilation, positive treatment in the Tropical Disease Hospital Central. Initial epidemiological investigation showed that, at home and around the area where patients are living with sick poultry phenomenon / death.

Department of Preventive Medicine and Environment continue to strongly recommend that people perform some of the following measures:

Two people infected with H5N1 avian influenza in Vietnam

Two people in northern Vietnam have been infected with H5N1 bird flu virus while authorities conduct tests to determine the 11th to see if other patients are also infected with a high fever virus.

News by Reuters said two people have tested positive, a young 22 years old with a 27-month-old girl, along with 11 people suspected the same village in Bac Kan province.

Reuters quoted envoy Liu Xuan Hoa, deputy director of Medical Center of Cho Moi in Bac Kan Province said that all patients have been quarantined and tests are being carried out to determine the cause of disease.

Mr Hoa said that four suspected members of a group who had hospital.

Thursday News 5 of Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper quoted Dr. Nguyen Huy Nga, director of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Environment noted that the two patients with an influenza A/H5N1 infected areas such signals the outbreak of a cluster cases, and more dangerous it also warned of the spread from human to human influenza A/H5N1, is unprecedented in Vietnam.

According to information from Reuters said two patients were infected with H5N1, and Vietnam health officials are continuing to monitor 11 other people suspected of infection.

He expressed concern that a large outbreak of the disease could soon occur as the prolonged sweltering weather that Vietnam is experiencing is conducive to development of the cholera bacteria, which causes acute diarrhea and can be fatal if left untreated.

The hot weather has also reduced water levels in lakes and rivers in southern provinces, forcing people to resort to using dirty water sources where the Vibrio cholera bacterium thrives.

In addition, food is more prone to spoilage in hot weather, which can create favorable conditions for cholera to develop.

Health officials advise people to practice good personal hygiene and keep food preparation areas clean. Food should be cooked well and water should be boiled before drinking. People should also wash their hands after using the toilet and before eating or handling food.
