The Department of Animal Health would like to provide an update on Avian Influenza (AI), Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), 'blue ear' disease, prevention and control progress as follows:

I. Diseases situation


1. Avian influenza

Binh Dinh: From 4/03/2011, avian influenza has been occurred at a household in Quang Huy village, Phuoc Loc commune, Tuy Phuoc district with 1,550 ducks infected. SDAH and local authority had culled all infected ducks and applied all required preventive and control measures.

Quang Ngai: On 2/3/2011, avian influenza has been occurred at a household in Dong village, Tinh Son commune, Son Tinh district with 210 ducks infected out of the total flock of 3,316 ducks, of which 150 were died. SDAH and local authority had culled all infected flock and applied all required preventive and control measures.

Currently, HPAI has been reported in 05 provinces during the last 21 day period, namely Vinh Phuc, Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai.

Department of Animal Health is pleased to announce the situation of avian influenza, foot and mouth epidemic livestock and PRRS as follows:

I. The situation

1. Avian influenza

Nam Dinh: On 16/03/2011, avian influenza has occurred in chicken farms of Nghia An commune, Nam Truc district. Department of Animal Health and local authorities have carried out the destruction of 2671 was carried out of the chicken farms and carry out epidemic prevention and control measures.

Hai Phong: On 17/03/2011, avian flu has occurred on the 887 birds (587 ducks, 300 chickens) of a farmers Tu Son commune, Kien Thuy district. Department of Animal Health and other agencies have carried out the total destruction of poultry on farms and implement preventive measures to prevent epidemic.

Currently, there are 07 provinces of Ha Nam, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri, Nghe An, Nam Dinh and Hai Phong is bird flu 21 days.

During the day, avian influenza has occurred in 01 new provinces of Quang Tri province, the following specific information:

Quang Tri: On 07/4/201, avian influenza has occurred in 01 rural households in Hung Nhon, Hai Hoa commune, Hai Lang district. Number of infected poultry is the 1250 52-day-old ducks were not vaccinated against bird flu. SDAH with the local authorities have carried out the destruction of all poultry on the implementation of measures and prevention as prescribed.

: On 23/04/2011, avian influenza has occurred in 01 chicken farms Phuoc Hau commune, Long Ho District, Vinh Long province to 1,050 chickens died in 2000 the herd. Department of Animal Health has cooperated with local authorities destroyed all of the infected chickens and implement preventive measures as prescribed.

Currently, there are 07 provinces of Quang Ngai province, Tien Giang, Dak Lak, Ha Nam, Bac Kan, Quang Tri and Vinh Long have bird flu outbreak 21 days.

Lang Son province is now reporting bird flu outbreak

1. Avian influenza

During the day, which adds a new province of Lang Son Province reported outbreak of avian influenza, the following specific information:
