U.S. government support for Vietnam to train personnel in disease prevention.
Press release of the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi on Thursday announced that in the past year, the International Development Agency (USAID) has provided finance for the Vietnam Red Cross supports the work of prevention of outbreak of epidemics, and hence the Vietnam Red Cross has trained over 2,500 officials for training at the central level and provincial level and for the heads of local communities in 63 provinces into prevention and response planning with the disease.
U.S. embassy statement noted that Vietnam is one of the first countries in the world affected by the outbreak of H5N1 in 2003 and also announced cases of avian influenza in first person in the world.
Since then, Vietnam recorded more than 3,000 animal influenza outbreaks and 119 cases in people.
While the international community was admitted as a good example of efforts to cope with bird flu, Vietnam has ranked second in the world, after Indonesia, the number of cases and deaths in humans.
