Virus and influenza A H1N1 was detected in neighboring countries
Share in the Southern Cone, this year already identified isolated cases, though, in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Local epidemiologist presumed there would be no second wave of pandemic influenza in the region.

This year, the influenza A virus H1N1 is still circulating in Paraguay, also is nearby.
According to the director general of Health Surveillance, Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Ivan Allende, several countries in the region have reported the presence of this strain, called pandemic.
However, "it said" isolated cases, are not yet outbreaks or epidemics, as occurred in 2009.
"Chile and Uruguay, and identified the A H1N1. Brazil, too, even linked to deaths. In Argentina, we still have no information," said Allende.
However, according to a report by the Argentine news website, Infobae.com, the Ministry of Health of the province of Entre Rios (north of Buenos Aires) confirmed last week that there is a 1-year internship in Paran?-capital Entre Rios with symptoms of influenza, which tested positive for the H1N1 strain. The youth, who was not vaccinated is stable.
UNCERTAINTY .. "We are entering the period of circulation of respiratory viruses, but do not know if H1N1 is going to play a leading role this time," said epidemiologist.
He added that in the southern hemisphere we're not living a second pandemic wave, as happened in the northern hemisphere countries.
"We still have some uncertainty about how it will behave the epidemic of acute respiratory infections and what will be the role of influenza A H1N1," said Director of Health Surveillance.
During the second wave of the northern hemisphere, the pandemic was the predominant strain between respiratory viruses and so are reporting some Central American countries.
In the South, however, to date not being given the situation. "Although this is the moment you are introducing cold fronts across the region in the south still are not seeing a spillover from acute respiratory infections, although there is a significant increase in consultations," he said. He added that sentinel surveillance systems are not reporting or predominant mass circulation of pandemic virus in this hemisphere.
The epidemiologist estimated that probably there is no double-wave behavior in this part of the continent.
ONE MORE. "The perception we have we are working in epidemiology is that the pandemic virus could become more of a seasonal virus," says Allende.
For this reason, the effort of the epidemiological surveillance and control is now directed to acute respiratory infections in general and especially severe cases, people with risk factors that may cause complications and death from any virus circulating influenza, he said.
In Paraguay, whose circulation of respiratory viruses has been detected so far are: influenza B, parainfluenza 1 and 2, Adenovirus and Respiratory Syncytial Virus.
Vaccine before it's too late
The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) strongly recommends to the population at risk who comes to immunize against influenza A H1N1, before it's too late.
Remember that once the shot, the body requires between 10-15 days to acquire immunity. "The goal is that people can reach the greatest moment of transmission of infectious agents with immunity present, active and appropriate," said Dr. Ivan Allende.
The vaccination campaign was extended until 15 June. The risk groups include pregnant women, children 6-35 months, adults over 60 years, the chronically ill and morbidly obese.
Vaccines are available in all health services in the public and are free.
