Swine flu: two more die

TWO more people have died after contracting the swine flu virus, the Western Mail has learned.
The latest tragedies bring Wales? swine flu-related death toll to seven. More than 100 people have now died in the UK following the emergence of the H1N1 virus in April.
Health Minister Edwina Hart will today announce funding of more than ?1.4m to buy 65 ventilators to help hospitals treat the most critically ill swine flu-infected patients.
Public health officials last night urged the 750,000 people at the greatest risk of suffering severe illness from swine flu to be vaccinated as the programme started in Wales. Dr Tony Jewell, Wales? chief medical officer, also called on frontline NHS and social care workers to take up the offer of vaccination. The virus has also forced the closure of two primary schools within five miles of each other in Carmarthenshire.
Cefneithin Primary School announced it would close for half-term early because of staff sickness, following in the wake of nearby Pontyberem Primary School. Cases of swine flu have been confirmed in pupils attending both schools.
