Two cases of swine flu have been reported in the city this week, bringing back memories of 2010 when swine flu claimed four lives across the state.
On April 10, 2013, a nine year-old girl tested positive with H1N1 virus and was admitted to Beliaghata ID hospital. A resident of North 24-Parganas, the girl was admitted with a suspected case of influenza-like illness (ILI) and symptoms of sore throat. Her throat swab tested positive for influenza. She is currently undergoing treatment at the quarantine ward in the hospital. Her condition is stated to be stable.

Swine flu reported from three West Bengal districts
After a gap of about two years, swine flu has been reported from three West Bengal districts, with three affected persons admitted to the state-run Infectious Diseases hospital with H1N1 virus.

KOLKATA: The state government's health department has sounded a swine flu alert, with private hospitals being asked to set up isolation wards. The department has also issued a detailed guideline which prescribes categorization of patients, treatment protocols and preventive measures.
