WHO confirm that half of all H1N1 deaths are healthy young people

This is todays news from one of our two biggest TV-stations in Denmark.
It is a very relaible TV-station.
And they say that WHO confirmed it to the actual TV-station, so I belive they have beein in conect with WHO themselves.

Has anyone seen this news elsewere?

Nearly half of the people who have died from Influenza A, was completely healthy young people until they became infected. The UN World Health Organization-WHO reaffirms to TV2/Nyhederne.

Worldwide, at least 2185 people died of flu and about 210,000 people are infected with the disease. Denmark has registered 558 Danes infected - but none have died. While all citizens of example Sweden and Greece are vaccinated, there is only vaccines to one third of the Danes.

"We still believe that our strategy is right. For the vast majority of cases, people hit by the flu will be without drama," said Dr. Else Smith is head of the Center for Prevention in Health. She also predicts that approximately 1000 will die of Influenza A to TV2/Nyhederne.

The vaccine will from next month be given to a specially selected group of Danes - eg. sick and weak and society key.

Næsten halvdelen af de mennesker, der er døde af Influenza A, var helt raske, unge mennesker, indtil de blev smittet. Det bekræfter FNs verdens-sundhedsorganisation WHO over for TV2/Nyhederne.

På verdensplan er mindst 2185 personer døde af influenzaen og omkring 210.000 mennesker er smittet med sygdommen. Herhjemme er 558 danskere registreret smittede - men ingen er døde. Mens samtlige borgere i fx. Sverige og Grækenland bliver vaccineret, er der blot vacciner til en tredjedel af danskerne.

"Vi mener stadig, at vores strategi er den rigtige. For i langt de fleste tilfælde vil influenzaen ramme uden dramatik," siger overlæge Else Smith er chef for Center for Forebyggelse i Sundhedsstyrelsen. Hun anslår desuden, at cirka 1000 vil dø som følge af Influenza A til TV2/Nyhederne.

Vaccinen vil fra næste måned blive givet til en særligt udvalgt gruppe danskere - fx. syge og svage og samfundets nøglepersoner.

Yes, I have seen it reported time and time again on who.int that most of deaths from H1N1 are in young adults-and half of all deaths are in previously healthy young adults--but most people gloss right over that when they write Op-ed pieces for newspapers saying how this flu is just like seasonal flu and is no more deadly-etc etc.

You get a public health nurse one-on-one and they will tell you just what everyone here is saying--this is NOT the seasonal flu-young people are vulnerable.
