County resident develops rare case of German measles

Yavapai County and Arizona state health officials report that an unimmunized Yavapai County resident developed rubella, also known as German measles.
The adult, who likely contracted the disease during international travel, has recovered, said Stephen Everett, epidemiologist for Yavapai County.
"During the case investigation, no susceptible close contacts were identified and the individual had no travel outside of Yavapai County while infectious," Everett said. "No other cases have been identified. The last reported case of rubella in Arizona occurred in 2000."
